Welcome
Journey of Faith
Simply began as a result of from our traveling from rodeo to rodeo as contestants. We realized that when we were out on the road we missed attending church. We missed the fellowship, the music and really missed praising our Lord. Being out on the rodeo trail can be long, hard and can really become lonely. As we traveled to the Pro rodeos they usually had rodeo church services associated with their rodeos. We enjoyed these services and that is when we heard the Lord speaking to us to start our services at the Indian rodeos, so with that we began having Cowboy Church here and there as we traveled to various rodeos. We began with services locally in the Southwest area. We had a lot of help from Coy Huffman as we got started. Coy has been such an inspiration to us and really encouraged us as we ventured out. After spending several years putting on services throughout the United States we “officially” organized “Journey of Faith” by incorporating and becoming a 501c3 organization.

Ed Holyan
All Around Cowboy, Tie Down, Steer Wrestling
The sport of rodeo has long been in the mind of 8 times World Champion Ed Holyan. While growing up on the Navajo Reservation, Holyan did not spend his childhood traveling along the
rodeo trail. Nope, the opportunities were not available to him at that time. Instead Holyan dreamed of being a rodeo champion while struggling with many obstacles. Ed Holyan, the fifth
of six children of the late Raymond and Anna Holyan, wanted to be a champion
cowboy just like his dad. Although Holyan never saw his father compete, he knew that his dad must have been good when he would return home to them with saddles, buckles and lots of money after the weekend rodeo. After Holyan's father tragically died when he was only four years old, the dream of following his dad's footsteps never faded, it just became harder to do. Ed said he can remember practicing on his grandmas’ sheep and calves. "My brother Ray and I would herd sheep for my grandmother, once we got far enough away, we would start
our own little rodeo. Boy did we rope and wrestle Grandma’s sheep," Ed recalls using their sheep herding Shetland pony named "Geronimo" as their famed champion rodeo horse. "We had no choice, Geronimo was all we had." After his training out on the range, Ed's older brother Roy gave him the start he needed. "l owe my brother Roy so much" said Holyan
adding, "Roy provided me with the horses, paid my fees and most of all believed in me."
Once Holyan got his taste of winning he just kept "going and going and going." His rodeo resume includes three National High School Finals, two Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals, Dodge Circuit Finals and eight combined prestigious Indian World Championship Titles in the All Around, Tie Down and Steer Wrestling. When asked what championship was the most important to him, Holyan said "I guess they are all special, each one of them have been a
stepping stone for the next, so they are all special." Holyan did share that the biggest
award was when he rededicated his life to serving the Lord. "I use to base my life on rodeo to rodeo, it was all I thought of, but that has changed. I now look forward to serving the Lord, being a good husband and father and giving back to the sport that has been so good to me. I
thank the Lord, my mom Anna, my wife Carole and my family for all their help and support.
